Tiffany, who is Autistic herself, is also a user of Augmentative and Alternate Communication (AAC) and does a lot of advocacy work for both Autistics and AAC users. In this episode, Tiffany communicates almost entirely using her speech-generating AAC device and none of the pauses where Tiffany is typing on her device are removed from the recording so listeners can understand what communication with an AAC user is really like. We discuss important issues like AAC Trauma, oralism, and the presumption of competence in all users.
