In this conversation, Jessie Arroyave shares her journey in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and discusses the challenges and opportunities for ABA in Guatemala. In Episode 169, Ben chats with Catarina Rivera, founder of Blindish Latina, a platform smashing disability stigmas through storytelling and advocacy.  As a Latiné woman who has lived with disability all her life, she brings a deep understanding of intersectionality to conversations surrounding disability. She wore hearing aids from a young age but did not know why she was hard of hearing. At 17, she was diagnosed with Usher Syndrome which includes a progressive vision disability due to retinitis pigmentosa as well as a hearing disability. She has a BA from Duke University, an MSEd from Bank Street College of Education, and an MPH from Hunter College. Catarina is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (IAAP).

In Episode 155, Ben chats with Dr. Yaniz Padilla Dalmau. She has a specialty in the assessment and treatment of challenging behavior using an applied behavior analytic (ABA) approach. Yaniz has a passion for improving access to behavior analytic services for underserved populations through novel models such as telehealth and through consideration of cultural variables within assessment and treatment. One of her life’s missions has been to bridge the service gap in the area of ABA for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Puerto Rico.
 
Yaniz has received training at the University of Iowa and the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University’s Neurobehavioral Outpatient Unit. She has practiced at the Virginia Institute of Autism’s outpatient behavioral services and Seattle Children’s Hospital Biobehavioral Program and Pediatric Feeding Program.

Episode 125 is a conversation with Dr. Lindsay Lloveras. Dr. Lloveras is a Behavior Analyst for the UF Health Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (UF Health CAN) and coordinates the inpatient behavioral consultation program at UF Shands Children’s Hospital. Her primary area of research is in assessment and treatment of behavior disorders, with emphasis on quantitative analysis.  Dr. Lloveras and her colleagues have recently published several articles on differential reinforcement and the use of the term "ignore" in ABA and provides a unique perspective on how behaviour analysts can better apply (or not apply) these procedures.
